SMHS Volleyball Team finished the season ranked 1st in the district and 1st in the region. The ladies competed in the State Championship Tournament and made it to the second round. The 2009 SMHS Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams competed at Victor Ashe Park and finished the regular season 1st in their region. Both teams will compete in the State Championship at Percy Priest Steeple Course in Nashville, TN on November 7th.

The SMHS Varsity Football made it to the first round of the state playoffs for the first time. We took a hard loss to Livingston Academy. Congratulations to our Varsity Football and Coach Wattenbarger for a successful season. |

***Congratulations to the SMHS Cross Country Team! Out 125 teams in our division, we went to state with 24 other teams. At the state championship our Girls team finished the season ranked 9th in the state and the Boys team finished ranked 25th in the state. Congratulations to both teams and Coach Smith!***

Notes From The Athletic Director
Our goal for the athletic program is to strive for excellence that will lead to winning programs within the bounds of good sportsmanship and mental health of the student athlete.
We also strive to provide a superior program of activities that includes appropriate activities for every boy and girl and offer the greatest benefit for the greatest number of students.
We're very proud of our student athletes, along with our athletic programs, and encourage all students to get involved.
